From February 2 – 8, 2014 there will be held a theological seminar on the anthropological basis of our Congregation’s spirituality. It is organized under the title of Anthropologia cordis. As such it stands in continuity with two previous encounters Theologia Cordis (Alfragide, 2008) and Missio Cordis (Brusque, 2010). The Seminar will be held in the Facoltade Dehoniana in Taubaté, Brazil. About 50 members of the Congregation will participate.

It is the intention of the organizers (John van den Hengel (General Administration), Fernando Rodrigues Garrapucho (ESP and the seminar moderator) and João Carlos Almeida (BSP, the director of logistics) to make this into a unique seminar. The seminar has been organized according to continents with North America joining Europe. Theologians from each continent have been asked to prepare papers reflecting on anthropology from the perspective of the continent. These papers will be distributed electronically before the seminar. Only a summary of these papers will be presented orally at the seminar. The papers will be discussed first by the participants of a continent and subsequently in an exchange among the continents. In this way we hope to have a real seminar on an anthropology of the heart.

Alongside these papers there will be a number of presentations. The focus of these papers will be to give a generalized understanding of anthropology (Prof. Colzani), the anthropology of Fr. Dehon (panel of Latin Americans), and the anthropology of the constitutions (Marcel Maçaneiro and Alfonso Tadeu Murad) and the anthropological style of Fr. Dehon (Marcello Neri). The interaction of the original papers and the different presentations in a seminar format will be the major thrust of the seminar.

At the completion of the Seminar the papers and an account of the seminar will be published in Studia dehoniana.
