The South African Province celebrated the installation of its new administration on February 2, 2017, during a 10:30 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral Church in Aliwal. Bp. Adam Musialek, SCJ, presided over the Eucharist with the former and the current provincial superiors as concelebrants. Fr. Mark Przybys, SCJ, the out-going provincial, gave the homily. After, the newly elected provincial superior, Fr. Bernard Tente Sompane, SCJ, made his solemn profession of faith and affirmed his willingness to serve the good of the province by strengthening the charism, brotherly ties and the province's dedication to work for the good of the Church in South Africa. Bp. Adam blessed the new provincial superior and his council for the first triennium of their office.

The celebration was followed by a simple dinner for invited guests including diocesan priests, religious sisters and confreres of the province.

Fr. Bernard is the second South African SCJ to be elected as provincial superior. The first, Fr. Zolile Petros Mpambani, was named bishop of Kokstad just three months after he took office on February 2, 2013.
