Centro Studi - Dehon, the Dehonians and the World War - An unpublished document

Gruppi SCJ-004We are in the years of the centenary of World War I (1914-1918). For the Congregation those years were not only a threat to the life of many SCJs fighting on both sides of the front. The war was a threat to many projects, structures - and sometimes their end. The war had the potential to jeopardize the unity of the Congregation. During these years, the French founder Dehon is confined in the city of Saint-Quentin under German occupation. On the occasion of the centenary of World War I, the Centro Studi Dehoniani is publishing a dossier of several parts on the centenary in different languages. Maison-text-0067600-002-190 1The main part is a treasure until now unknown to the general public: four small booklets in which Dehon recounts his experience of the war and of everyday life during the war. This unique and fascinating document - not only for dehonians - is accompanied by an introduction by P. McGuire, an article by David Neuhold on the perception of war in Dehons' writings, and historical notes by Fr. Arnaiz Ecker, vice-director of the the Centro Studi Dehoniani, who has prepared this dossier.
